Angry Birds Rio: Coming Soon!
With the new film Rio coming soon to theaters, Rovio has partnered with Amazon to bring the much awaited “Angry Birds Rio” to the Android platform.
In a surprising twist of fate, Rovio has decided not to go with their usual partners, GetJar. Instead, they will release their game exclusively through the Amazon Appstore. It is not certain for how long this agreement will remain intact, nor when the game will be available for download on the Android Market.
Rovio developers have been working with 20th Century Fox to bring Rio’s heroes, Blu and Jewel(two rare Macaws) to life. The game’s objective will be to save the original Angry Birds, who have been taken hostage in the magical city of Rio. The game will release with 60 levels, themed around locations found in the film, with additional content to be added in the future.
Rovio plans to launch Angry Birds Rio on March 22nd.
