Facebook Recruiting Former Obama Press Secretary
According to the Andrew Ross Sorkin from the NY Times Deal Book, Facebook is actively seeking to hire Robert Gibbs for a senior role in corporate communications. As you may recall, Gibbs is President Obama’s former White House press secretary. Mr. Gibbs left the White House in February to a job in the private sector and became outside adviser to the administration.
Facebook is considering Mr Gibbs because it has received pressure from investors to communicate better with the public about its products and policies. It received considerable attention from the movie “The Social Network” about privacy concerns.
Currently the public face of the company is Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s co-founder. Hence, the position Mr. Gibbs would undertake would be the company voice to the media, investors and policy makers.
The job would be out of Facebook’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California and would likely pay Mr. Gibbs millions. He would receive a cash salary and shares of Facebook stock. Mr. Gibbs would report to the vice president for global communications, marketing and public policy.
Take a guess, how much would you say would be Gibbs’s compensation package?? Let us know on the comments below.
