Acer Iconia Stamped With a Release Date

Following competitive pricing on the Eee Pad Transformer, Acer has priced its 7-inch Iconia Tab just under the $500 mark. Acer’s Iconia Tab will feature a dual-core Tegra 2 processor along with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, as well as 512MB of memory. Unfortunately, the Iconia Tab will only have 8GB of memory, so do not expect to load too many movies on this device. The gadget features an HDMI output and a native 1280×800 resolution on the 10-inch model. It comes packed with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP HD front-facing camera for video calling.

The device is also multi-touch enabled. Gamers throughout the world will enjoy the Iconia’s Gyroscope made to bring games to life. The small machine is expected to have your standard WiFi and 3G support. Amazon expects a release date as April 20th in the United Kingdom. What do you guys think of this little tablet? Is it a worthy contender against the iPad 2 or the Asus Transformer? Check out the video below at a recent 2011 convention and let us know what you think in the comments section!
