Facebook CEO To Hold Obama’s 2012 Meeting
President Barack Obama has announced on Facebook that he will be holding a Town Hall meeting with Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg at Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto this month. The big event will happen on April 20th at 1:45pm PST. Users can participate by submitting questions about innovation and the economy through the Facebook Event wall. Facebook will select the top ones that will be addressed during the meeting.
Over a thousand people have already signed up to attend the event, however, the event will also be streamed live for viewers all over the country to enjoy. The last politician to give a talk at Facebook was President George Bush, and the company regularly hosts Facebook Live interviews with famous celebrities. This will be the first major event of Obama’s upcoming 2012 campaign for re-election. It will be interesting to see if Obama’s transparency and widespread outreach through the Internet and Social Media will be enough to carry young voters a second time around. I’d be interested to see whether his opponents will follow similar routes, although I am sure they will if they are serious about winning.
