CNN Launches Full Featured Application For Android
CNN announced yesterday that it will be releasing a highly engaging new app for Android users. The application is of course free and is available through the Android market. Users will be able to create their own stories and share them from their phones, such as iReport.
VP of Mobile Technology at CNN, Louis Gump, said “Android users are extremely discerning and will accept nothing less than a first-rate app that showcases high quality, world-class content — and enables them to share it…We built the CNN app with these desires specifically in mind and are excited to offer the millions of Android phone users around the world access to CNN’s global reporting.”
February marked an important month as it was when CNN became one of the first companies to release an app designed specifically for Android tablets. Users of the new app will be able to share text stories and photos through e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter with the tap of a button. Also, users can just check the headlines via a widget without even needing to open up the application. Android Central’s blog gave it a good review and wrote “The application is as intuitive as it is overwhelming. You’re greeted with a host of news in a number of categories — top stories, U.S., world, politics, justice, entertainment, tech, health, living, travel and opinion — and those are just for CNN’s Lindsay Lohan coverage.” Check out the video for AndroidCentral’s review of the app!
