PlayStation Network Down For Fourth Day- No ETA Given
The outage at Sony’s PlayStation Network and Qriocity service is now in its fourth day. Sony has stated that they are rebuilding its system to safeguard against future attacks. Sony stated on Saturday that the outage was caused by an external intrusion into the network but hasn’t gone into details about what exactly happened. The PlayStation Network is the catalyst where PlayStation 3 games are played.
The Qriocity service runs on the same network infrastructure and provides Sony’s audio and video for consumer electronics products. Even though details were not revealed with the latest hack, the company stated, “Our efforts to resolve this matter involve rebuilding our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure…Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.”
Sony also mentioned that they will be working long hours to bring both systems back online but were unable to provide any estimated time arrivals. The outage of course has left PS3 owners unable to play their online games. I certainly hope that things will work out with Sony’s network as I feel sorry for all the paying customers out there!
