The Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Hitting Shelves Tomorrow

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer will hit U.S. stores tomorrow, April 26th at a competitive price of $399. Don’t be fooled by the price, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a very worthy opponent against the Apple iPad 2. For $399, you’ll get a beauty that weighs just under 1.5 pounds, has 16GB of storage space, Wi-Fi only, and the wonderful Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. The Eee Pad Transformer brings you a 10.1″ (1280 x 800 resolution) display without breaking the bank like the expensive Motorola Xoom ($599) or iPad 2 ($499).

The touchscreen display, features the latest and most durable Gorilla Glass. This beautiful convertible comes packed with a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1GB of memory, and a 5MP rear/1.2MP front-facing camera. On the device, you’ll find a Micro SD expansion slot, HDMI out, USB 2.0, speakers and audio jacks. The Eee Transformer comes with 802.11b/g/b and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, G-sensor, light sensor, gyroscope, and e-compass. Users will not have a hard time enjoy their favorite media, for Asus will be including their prize-winning Waveshare interface to stream media, buy books, and access cloud storage.

With the keyboard docked, battery life gets extended from 9.5 to 16 hours. Although the dock costs an extra $150, we feel that users will find it a worthy purchase. After all, who could ask for more than turning a portable tablet into an e-mail center, wherever you go. Asus will release a 32GB version for $499 and a 3G version later this summer.
