Verizon’s 4G LTE Is Down Nationwide

Verizon’s 4G LTE network went down late last night, and is still down today. The Verizon 4G LTE outage has occurred through the country and affects the HTC Thunderbolt as well as 4G hotspots. The issue doesn’t affect 3G smartphones on the network, and is limited to 4G capable smartphones. So, if you’ve been holding out on that 4G purchase, yay for you!

Verizon has since posted on Twitter, “We’re aware of an issue with 4G LTE connections & our network engineers are working to resolve quickly. Will update here.” Later on, the company posted, “We have determined cause of 4G LTE issue & are working with major vendors to restore connections. Details as they come.” If you are eager to get back on your normal data speeds, XDA provided a fix (seen below) that helps you get back on 3G speeds until the network is fixed, or you can just use WiFi on your local network.

To Get Back To 3G Speeds (on HTC Thunderbolt):
Dial ##778#
Press Call button
The password is 000000
Choose Edit Mode
Go to Modem Settings
Choose Rev A
Switch from eHRPD to Enable
Press OK
Commit Modifications

Keep in mind that you will have to do this procedure again once the 4G coverage is fixed!
