Wind-Powered Watch, Eh? Count Me In!
While most watches require a battery to operate, this one won’t require you to visit the repairman anytime soon! The watch pictured on the left was designed by Julien Moise and operates solely on wind power. The watch has a red turbine wheel that encircles the watch’s dial. When the wearer wants to check the time, he or she will simply blow on the turbine, allowing the watch to generate enough power to display the time on a digital screen.
The design is quite beautiful and if you watch the video below, you’ll see exactly what I mean. Although, I have to admit, it would be a bit geeky to blow on your watch in public places. Strangers would probably assume you to have some obsessive compulsive disorder if you were one of those people who has to check their watch every few minutes.
Also, what if you’re on a roller coaster? Does the watch operate continuously? We don’t have information yet on pricing or availability but I am hoping the watch won’t cost consumers more than $50. What about you? Would you want to blow on your watch to check the time or is the concept all too silly?
