Startup Plizy Does Your Thinking For You
According to TechCrunch, Plizy is a new startup that is seeking to bring personalized video content to the iPad and recently announced a $1.2M angel funding round from investors. Plizy’s new service will let users discover, share, and watch online video based on a personal social graph, history, and interests. Some competitors awaiting Plizy at the dinner table include ShowYou and Pandora.
Since there is so much online content that one could watch, Plizy seeks to recommend videos based on a user’s ‘recommendation engine’ that collects for the user, using existing graphs. Plizy will originally launch as an iPad app but the platform will also arrive for connected devices like TVs and computers. The team is made up of a number of experienced individuals and they are looking to go big, as most startups are.
Plizy will feature content from Revision 3, Youtube, Dailymotion, and Vimeo, so what’s so new about this new system? Well, the recommendation engine of course. We all have had that problem of not knowing to watch or not knowing what to type in the search engine, and with Plizy, we don’t have to worry about thinking of the next video to queue up. It will be the perfect system for those seeking hours of entertainment without having to think about the entertainment, yes, I know this makes us sound lazy.
