T-Mobile Rolls Out Phone Trade-In Program
T-Mobile has just rolled out a trade-in program kind of like the American ‘cash for clunkers’ program a couple years ago. This time, we’re talking about phones, not cars. If you have an old phone, and everything works, and there are no cracks in the screen, no liquid damage, T-Mobile will give you up to $300 towards a new phone and accepts trade-ins REGARDLESS of brand or carrier.
The T-Mobile site even set up a “My Trade Ins” that allow consumers to get an idea of how much their phone is worth. You can receive as much as $170 for an Apple iPhone 3GS (32 GB), $155 for an HTC Evo or $110 for a Droid 2.
We are not sure what is going on with this program and if it has any relation to AT&T, but I believe T-Mobile is rolling out a similar plan as Sprint so they don’t let all their business, well, flock over to the competitor. So what do you guys think of this plan? Do you think you’ll trade-in your older phone for a brand new one? Switch to T-Mobile perhaps? They do have excellent voice and data prices, that is–if they don’t get swallowed by AT&T. I wonder if this program will have much success given that merger. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
