4.8GHz Notebook W/ 2GB Video Card
Computer manufacturer Maingear has just launched its newest laptop, the eX-L 17 3D notebook. The machine has an overclocked 4.8GHz CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 485M. 3D enthusiasts will make use of the 3D Vision support and rip through applications with the blazing fast second generation Intel processor, 2.5GHz in its resting state, and 4.8GHz when it’s overclocked to the max.
Consumers will enjoy the built-in 3D emitter, two HDD bays for expansion later down the road, and an integrated ‘Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N.’ If you’re thinking ‘glasses-free’, think again, this notebook will require 3D hopefuls to wear a pair of Nvidia 3D glasses.
The price starts at $2,700 for a recommended configuration and with a 17.3″ display, we doubt you’ll complain. Users looking to max out the laptop can opt for up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1200GB of total SSD space. The ports are basic with a single HDMI out, DVI-I out, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, 1 eSATA, 1 Firewire, and a few other mic and headphone ports. With this kind of computing power, I doubt the 8-cell battery will last you long without wall power. Then again, you probably weren’t planning on lugging this 9 pound laptop with you on a plane. For $2,700, it’s not a bad deal at all!
