Will the HP Tablet Knock Out All Other Tablets?

HP Europe’s Eric Cador says “In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one,”… “In the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus.”

He is talking about the Hp tablet that has an amazing Web OS operating system, he believes that HP is going to dominate in the tablet world just like it does in the PC market now. Apple is dominating in the tablets market now, but the Android tablets are not far behind. The only difference is that Android users do not have the huge variation of apps like iPad users do.

With its Palm tablets, HP comes from a position that is even more difficult than Google’s. The design is very attractive, but the tablet doesn’t have the developers support it needs to become a very powerful gadget. HP intends to change that by using Web OS on its computers and other gizmo’s of its own, but that has yet to be done.

We shouldn’t shoot down HP’s tablet road to success quite yet because Mr. Cador’s comment seems very optimistic to say the least. What seems to be missing from this analysis is that HP currently dominates a market where practically every competitor uses Windows as an operating system or user experience. It can then use its size to provide products that have certain qualities for the price in select markets such as businesses and consumers. Things are different in the tablet world for HP and they have a hard task of convincing people that the Web OS is the right software for users.
