Asus Goes ‘Toe To Toe’ With MacBook Air

It looks like Asus is planning on going head on against Apple’s MacBook Air. The company introduced an eleven point six inch aluminum alloy shell at the Computex show this week. The Asus UX 21 (shown top) uses a solid state drive just like the macbook air does and will feature Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

The device is classified as an ultra-portable and weighs in at just 2.2 pounds. Users will get two USB 3.0 ports, a headphone port, and a mini-HDMI out connector. Despite it’s feather-like feel, this machine is no lightweight! Consumers will be given the option of giving their new UX 21 a boost with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage space (at speeds of up to 6Gb/s).

You can expect the UX 21 to fly to stores near you sometime before Christmas. We don’t have any information on pricing, but you can bet this will be well over a thousand dollars, just based on the fact that it has the latest specs in all departments. This laptop wasn’t built with ‘value’ in mind, this is clearly a luxury laptop and will be best suited for the more affluent individuals looking for luxury notebooks.
