Twitter Gears Up To Launch Photo Sharing Service
Twitter has some exciting news for users around the world! The social media giant is geared up to launch its own photo-sharing service, due next week. All I can say is, beware Twitpic and Yfrog! Twitter is currently set on revealing the upcoming photo-sharing service at the D9 conference in California. Twitter’s CEO, Dick Costolo will formally introduced the new image sharing service on Wednesday.
Although current third party image sharing sites make their money through the advertisements displayed, it is uncertain how the new Twitter’s business model will work. Some expect the new service to work similar to Twing.com.
So what exactly are the benefits of Twitter having its own photo sharing service? Well, one benefit would be Twitter being better able to integrate photo messages in timelines, rather than going off site to view the photos. Essentially, Twitter wants to have its followers by hook, line, and sinker.
It also seems that Twitter may be getting a bit jealous of other Twitter clients, as they warned earlier in the year to stop using said clients. The company also purchased TweetDeck recently for a hefty sum. Perhaps the company is seeking domination in social, I think that is fairly safe to assume. Hey, birds get hungry sometimes too!
