Sony Introduces New 3D Projector
Sony has recently shown us a new projector, the VPL-HW30ES 3D Projector (pictured top), that includes Sony’s latest lamp technology, a dynamic lamp control system, that has been designed to provide home movie fans with an “unrivaled 3D cinematic experience.”
The new 3D projector utilizes Sony’s proprietary High Frame Rate SXRD Panel, rocking a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and mastering a 70,000:1 contrast ratio, providing a brightness rating of 1,300lm.
The projector produces a low, 22 decibels of noise which should not be noticeable over any video that is projected on the screen. The Sony VPL projector can also take 2D video, 3D images, and make classic movies come to life. You can expect this projector to be in stores throughout Europe next month, but Sony hasn’t given any clue on pricing as of yet.
On a different note, do you think that projectors are becoming outdated or will 3D technology revive the popularity of the machines? It seems like all the new laptops and netbooks have VGA and HDMI out ports, allowing consumers to directly hard wire their computers into any screen. I guess projectors are still good for those looking for maximal screen-real estate, but still, seems like only a minority would need such space to project a simple video.
