Police Arrest Teen From Lulz Security
UK Police arrested a 19 year old yesterday involved in the anonymous hacking group, LulzSecurity. The boy was caught after performing a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. The Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit said the boy was detained for attacks against a number of International business and intelligence agencies.
The arrest was carried out through a pre-planned, intelligence led operation, according to authorities. The hacking group took credit for attacks against SOCA (Serious Organized Crime Agency), when they tweeted “Tango down — soca.gov.uk –in the name of #AntiSec.”
Later that day, LulzSec posted “Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now … wait … we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?” Obviously, the hacking group is doing an excellent job of adding confusion to the pot.
I am hoping that the arrested teenager knows enough about the hacking group to drop some names in hopes of a lighter sentence, but something tells me that he doesn’t know much.
Is members of LulzSec are bold enough to mess with some of the largest companies and government agencies, I doubt they would be dumb enough to use their real names with eachother. I’d imagine most, if not all go by some code name or alias. Hopefully the arrests continue.
