Check Out The SanDisk 800GB Lightning SSD

In the world of technology, hardware continues to shrink in size while double in capacity. SanDisk has just launched two new Lightning ranges of solid state drives with capacities that range from 100GB all the way up to 800GB.

The SanDisk Lightning drives ranges include three SLC flash drives with capacities of 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB. The 200GB, 400GB, and 800GB have three MLC (multi-level cell) flash drives. There is also a 2.5″ and 3.5″ standard form factor that has been designed to integrate with current SAS enterprise storage and server systems.

These are top of the line drives, designed to give you full “end-to-end” data protection and reliability features, including background Patrol Read and Memory Reclaim, extended ECC, triple-redundant ECC protection metadata, and support for the T10 Data Integrity Field standard.

These products are already embedded into HP Qualified storage drives and are available to customers on HP ProLiant servers. We don’t have any prices to guide your decision making process but I can guarantee you the 800GB model will cost around $1,500 or more. Well, at least you’ll be getting a satellite-looking thing with all that money.

If CAM storage space takes off, we will see a massive reduction in solid state drive price.
