Vizio Unleashes Vtab1008 Tablet- $349

Vizio has recently put out a new tablet with its VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) Plus ecosystem. Vizio is taking its television screen making prowess and bringing it to tablets near you. The new Vizio Vtab1008 is a Wi-Fi only, 8″ tablet with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.

We’re expecting an Android 3.0 Honeycomb release, although the specific version of Android was not listed. The tablet costs $350 and packs a 1GHz processor with a built-in GPS, adding extra value to your new tablet purchase.

Users will be able to connect the tablet with other peripherals via Bluetooth and while it only comes with 2GB of internal storage, users can upgrade it to 32GB via its microSD card slot.

There is also a micro HDMI output to hook the device up to a big screen and a front-facing camera for some Skype video chatting. Probably the coolest little feature of this new tablet is that you can use it as a remote control for other VIZIO devices, with a universal remote control app.

If you’re the type to lose your remote on a regular basis, this tablet may just be “the one” for you. Since the model is WiFi only that means you won’t have to worry about any contracts or misleading fine print. Best of all you won’t be the victim of data overages from your wireless carrier, at least not when you’re browsing through your home network. Check it out, and follow us on twitter (@techmento).
