Verizon Rejecting All Motorola Gingerbread Phones?
Although Motorola had previously confirmed that Android 2.3 Gingerbread was coming to Verizon droid smartphones, only the Droid X was actually lucky enough to receive the update. The other phones, Droid Pro, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, and Droid X have yet to enjoy the refreshed operating system.
The rumor on the street is that Verizon is rejecting all Motorola-approved Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates. This came after Verizon had to send builds back to Motorola after receiving dysfunctional and buggy phones.
If the rumor holds any weight, this means that Motorola has a large project on their hands to get a new build out for Gingerbread that will ensure a build with minimal bugs. We are not sure whether the new build will take weeks or months to make, but those eagerly awaiting the update may have to sit tight for now.
I am with Verizon on this though, it’s better to make people wait than to serve an unreliable product that will cause issues. Someone’s gotta deal with the mess, if not Verizon, then it might as well be the source, Motorola.
Also, I think a lot of smartphone owners would rather wait for something reliable than risk having their new phone freeze on them. After all, why get a smartphone if it’s going to be glitchy?
