Zynga Teams Up With AT&T
Game maker Zynga has partnered up with AT&T to bring gaming to AT&T’s customers. Zynga is popular for creating social games such as Farmville that are commonly played through Facebook.
AT&T will publicize the Zynga games on the Android Market later this year. Games such as Words with Friends and Zynga Poker will be combined with customized content to let Zynga stand above the rest.
Since Zynga is already well known in the 2D gaming community, the move may be seen as a publicity stunt in order to increase the chances of consumer approval for the merger with T-Mobile that is still being decided.
AT&T customers will also receive free credits for particular games and there will be Zynga giveaways at AT&T sponsored events. Financial details were not disclosed on how much Zynga would be paying AT&T for the publicity nor what exactly was “in it” for the telecommunications giant, but we assume there was a good reason behind the partnership.
The pairing may also boost Zynga to the level and popularity of PopCap games- the same company that produced Plants versus Zombies. Let us know what you think on Twitter @Techmento or reach out to use on Facebook at www.facebook.com/techmento.
