Windows 8 Was Microsoft’s Idea
Microsoft has had a clever marketing scheme for Windows 7. Have you ever seen those commercials that go something along the lines of “My name is Mark, and Windows 7 was my idea.” Shoot, they even have those commercials in other languages (I’ve seen one in French).
Well, although that strategy may have worked out with Windows 7, it looks like Microsoft decided to take the reigns for Windows 8. No clue if this is related to any worry over a potential future lawsuit over a successful windows feature, or if Microsoft just wanted the street cred, but here’s an e-mail from Microsoft to a customer just trying to share their input.
A customer representative by the name of Alex wrote:
“I understand you would like to submit a suggestion for the next generation of Windows. I will be glad to assist you with the information. Chris, I would like to inform you that, while Microsoft does accept suggestions for existing products and services, we do not accept suggestions for new products, technologies, processes. We hope that you will understand our intention to avoid any potential misunderstandings or disputes that may arise from submissions of information not related to current Microsoft products. Thus, we are returning your information without review.”
Oh well, at least we all got a say with Windows 7, or so it seemed. Check out the Windows 7 commercials below if you haven’t already seen ’em.
