HP Plans August Release For 64GB TouchPad

According to some leaked roadmap slides, Hewlett-Packard is planning to follow up on its just-released first TouchPad tablet with a “white glossy” model due out in August that sports a more powerful processor and 64GB of internal storage.

There will be a 4G edition with HSPA+ model of the TouchPad as well which is tipped to arrive on AT&T. Apart from the change in modem, everything else about this model will be the same as the current 32GB model.

At present, HP TouchPad features a 1.2GHz single-core processor with 1GB of RAM. A 9.7-inch 1024 x 768p touchscreen display is also joined by a 1.3-megapixel camera.

It is said that it will now come with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which will be clocked at 1.5GHz.

The currently available TouchPads have a 1.3-megapixel webcam that supports video calls, Beats Audio technology, and stereo speakers.

The 1.6-pound TouchPad is 13.7mm thick and includes Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, as well as a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass.

There’s also a mention of HP’s OPAL tablet in the presentation, which is reported to be a 7″ TouchPad.

So, can HP’s TouchPad tablet offering challenge the likes of the iPad 2 atop the tablet market ranks? What do you guys think?
