MacBook Air Gets Thunderbolt & More!
It looks like those leaked photos we posted yesterday, did offer a shred of evidence about a MacBook Air upgrade.
Not only will the new MacBook Airs carry the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors but both will support the razor fast Thunderbolt technology, capable of data transfers as fast as 10Gbps.
The new processors are expected to be at least 2.5x faster than previous MacBook Air processors. Other notable features include a backlit keyboard, multi-touch trackpad, Facetime camera, and a high resolution display to take your computing to the next level.
Unfortunately, the battery life hasn’t been upgraded or modified, and I would even expect it to lower due to Thunderbolt and the backlit keyboard. Some say you can expect between 5-7 hours, but I would estimate more around 4 hours of continuous use.
If you’ve got your notebook in standby, you should expect it to ‘last’ up to 30 days before you’ll need to charge it again, and if you get the larger 13″ model, you’ll get an extra SD card slot of quick storage.
All in all, it looks like this would be a great upgrade for those who want to experience Thunderbolt speed on their new ultra-slims MacBook Airs, or just for those enthusiasts who always seek the latest and greatest.
