Apple Barely Keeps Up With The Demand For iPad2
Tim Cook, Chief Operating Officer at Apple said, “Sales of the iPad 2 have absolutely been a frenzy. As we stepped into July, we have been able to increase the supply further, and some SKUs in some countries are at a supply-demand balance. We believe that some people chose to buy an iPad over a Mac in the quarter, but we believe that even more people chose to bought an iPad over a Windows PC.”
Some people are wondering whether iPad was cannibalizing the sales of company’s other computers and devices. But Cook responded to this question by saying that the only sales they might be cannibalizing is that of Windows PC.
The revenue generated only by iPads at this time is around $6 billion which is more than the revenue generated by Mac i.e. $5.1 billion. Peter Oppenheimer, Chief Financial Officer of Apple stated, “We sold every iPad we could make. It doesn’t appear that other tablet makers have been able to get any traction to speak of.”
