XO-3 Blessed With Solar Charging And Satellite Internet!
The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) has announced the details about its forthcoming slate. The tablet will be a budget computing solution for the children mainly in developing countries.
The XO-3 tablet will possibly be released early next year. The tablet was initially publicized in late 2009 with an estimated cost of less than US$100. The XO-3 will become available early next year or possibly earlier, and price is still being determined, but it will still be under $100.
The tablet will get rubber covers that will protect the device and more importantly they will also house solar chargers and satellite internet or any external keyboard. It will have a camera mounted in the bezel that surrounds the display.
At the bottom of the screen will be a microphone and USB 2.0 ports and a headphone jack. This deceive will be powered by ARM-based processor; however the processor details are not mentioned, it will be operating on Google’s Android or Chrome OS.
Decisions about the display are still delaying the device. The organization wants to use a transflective screen (perfect for use in bright environments including sunlight), except with richer visuals in e-ink and transmissive modes.
A version of Pixel Qi’s hybrid screen could be the top priority, and it has the ability to absorb ambient light to brighten screens and reduce power consumption. This tablet will develop the education level in developing countries and allow many lesser-privileged students to access internet freely.
