LG Goes Wireless, Announces Global Remote Call Service
LG has just announced a global release of its new Remote Call services, that allow smartphone users to enjoy remote maintenance and software upgrades. The service was first launched in Korea, but soon, the rest of the world can enjoy it too.
The Remote Call services essentially let LG diagnose software issues in a mobile device without forcing a customer to visit the support center (thank god!). This lets LG technicians connect to the phone directly via the Internet and troubleshoot the phone.
Before you worry about your personal information being out in the open to some random technician, note that they cannot see any of your messages, contacts, call logs, etc.
The new update also allows firmware OTA updates (over the air) which bypasses the trouble of hooking up your phone to your computer and manually downloading and installing the software on your device.
Currently, the Remote Call app is only available on LG’s premium smartphones, which include the Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, and Optimus 3D. The services will reach all corners of the world before the end of this year, and are sure to excite many luxury phone owners.
