Dropbox Got A Direct Competitor!
Dropbox no wonder has been a hit sync and storage solution, however it is now going to face a tough and direct competitor called RapidDrive. It integrates directly with the computer’s file system and provides local storage that later on syncs automatically with the remote servers.
RapidShare CEO Alexandra Zwingli said, “With RapidDrive, we are providing a tool that creates an even closer link between cloud storage and the PC environment, which makes it easier to manage files”. The RapidDrive at present supports Windows only.
With the integration of RapidDrive into Windows, RapidShare users get a time saving feature that lets you upload file directly to the RapidShare from other programs like Ms Office (Word, Excel etc) to the RapidShare account. The software currently has a support for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.
The CEO said that they are planning on adding support for other Operating systems too. It will be released later this year, probably early September, after the final testing stage is over however its Beta version is made available for download here.
