MeeGo Is Back To Life!
Jolla is a Finnish company smartphone product company that consists majorly of former Nokia employees. They have announced to take over the Nokia’s left-for-dead brand operating system that’s known as MeeGo operating system. The operating system basically was developed by Nokia for N9 smartphone but then decided to drop the plan and rather go for Windows OS.
MeeGo was supposed to be Nokia’s answer to the blasts of Android and iPhone but then Nokia ended up collaborating with Microsoft and Windows Phone instead. So the Jolla decided to hold on to the MeeGo and bring it back to life and then power up their smart phones with the brand new Operating System.
The development team of Jolla includes ex-directors and key professionals from Nokia’s original MeeGo N9 organization. Marc Dillon who is now the head of the company was Nokia’s chief operating officer and principal engineer.
Jolla explained the whole project as:
“Nokia created something wonderful – the world’s best smartphone product. It deserves to be continued, and we will do that together with all the bright and gifted people contributing to the MeeGo success story. Together with international private investors and partners, Jolla Ltd. will design, develop and sell new MeeGo based smartphones.”
