Windows 8 Will Hit The Market In October

Windows 8, Microsoft’s next major operating system for PCs, tablets and laptops will be released next month to the manufacturers. The Operating System’s key features were developed keeping touch screen devices in mind. It’s more tablet-friendly than any other OS available up to date.

Microsoft beforehand announced that the OS will be commercially available at the end of this year however they didn’t specify any date. Microsoft also announced at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto that the just as the OS is released to the manufacturers (RTM) in October, they will activate the Windows store and start charging for the applications that were free during the testing phase.

At the conference, the Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that it’s being an epic year for the company because of the new product updates that Microsoft delivered and he called the Windows 8 “the biggest deal for Microsoft in 17 years.” Windows 8 will start shipping commercially in October says the Microsoft. Same are the dates for Windows RT; the Windows 8 version for ARM powered devices.

Mind that Windows RT will be embedded in the devices and will not come separately or sold as a stand-alone OS like Windows 8 for x86. The Windows will be available in 109 languages and 231 markets worldwide.
