Google Plus Scam Spreading Via Fake Invites

Google Plus is still in the trial phase and participation is by invite only at the moment. The invites are rare, which has led to people begging on sites such as Twitter for someone to send them an invite. This has played straight into the criminals’ hands.

The fake invites to join Google Plus look very like the genuine invitations, clicking on the links in the email will take the victim to Canadian Family Pharmacy, not Google Plus.

Samsung Combines Display & Semiconductor Businesses

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung will combine its flat-panel display and semiconductor businesses into a single unit. What’s the reason? Well, Samsung didn’t have too good of profits during its first quarter, and mediocre performance during its second quarter.

However, when you combine the two businesses, the semiconductor aspect of Samsung made up 70% of Samsung’s operating profits and 44% total of the company’s revenue. Those are some pretty impressive statistics, and allows its flat-panel display business to piggy back off the semiconductor manufacturing successes.

‘Indestructible’ Botnet Enslaves 4.5mn PCs

A new and sophisticated botnet has infected more than four million computers in just three months, and it is almost “indestructible”, say security researchers. The botnet, called TDL-4, targets PCs running on Windows and tries hard to avoid detection and even harder to shut down.

TDL-4 is the name for both the Trojan virus that affects machines and the network of compromised computers. “It is the most sophisticated threat today… practically indestructible,” Kaspersky Lab’s security researchers Sergey Golovanov and Igor Soumenkov have stated in a detailed analysis released recently.

Why Is Thunderbolt So Expensive?

We’ve all heard about Apple’s blazing faster Thunderbolt technology, but we also know that the speedy tech comes at a cost, $49 for a thunderbolt cable to be exact. At first, it just seemed that Apple was taking advantage of owning proprietary hardware, but then we got a closer look on why the cable is so expensive.

So what costs so much in the thunderbolt cable? Well, surprisingly it’s right by the port of the cord, where there is a small Gennum chip. This chip allows the data to reach a full duplex 10Gbps speed.

Leak: Nokia 700 Zeta Smartphone

We’ve just heard about the Nokia 700 Zeta leak, designed to succeed the previous Nokia C6-01. The phone will feature the latest in Symbian software using Belle as its operating system. The Zeta is expected to be one of the thinnest Nokia phones out there.

The phone features a 5MP camera with LED flash, NFC support (yay), and a gorgeous 3.5″ nHD AMOLED display that will make your mobile games come to life. I have heard some criticisms that AMOLED displays cause stress on the eyes when used for longer periods of time, but let’s just hope you’re not one of those phone addicts.
