White House Seeks To Increase Auto Industry Avg To 56MPG

The White House unveiled an ambitious proposal to update the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. The new plan would require auto manufacturers to bump the average fuel economy from 34mpg by 2016 and 56.2mpg by 2025.

The new MPG requirement will apply to cars, trucks, and SUVs and represents about a 5% per year of fuel efficiency. Although the new requirement will no doubt be expensive, it will also save the United States 4.7 billion barrels of oil and $705 billion US by year 2030.

Verizon LTE Moves To The South And Midwest

Verizon has finally brought it’s 4G LTE network to the Southern and Midwest markets, after it’s recent push to the major markets. Verizon will now be serving four markets in Pennsylvania (Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown and Leigh Valley), two markets in Tennessee (Cleveland and Clarksville), two markets in South Carolina (Hilton Head and Columbia) and one in North Carolina (Wilmington) would soon get LTE coverage.

Think 3G, Then Multiply That 40 Times: LTE Advanced

The South Korean Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute claims that they (South Korea) has created the strongest and fastest 4G network in the world. Their new technology, called LTE Advanced, runs 40 times faster than current 3G networks. What does LTE Advanced let you achieve? Users will be able to enjoy streaming HD videos to their mobile devices as well as being able to play 3D games without lag. What would normally take 6 minutes to download on 3G will take about 9 seconds to download on LTE Advanced. It is truly the technology of the future, and I cannot wait till we get LTE Advanced support in the United States. If we can have more power, why not? The best part of this new LTE Advanced technology is that it will work with existing 2G and 3G networks. Now for the catch:
