Online Shopping Glitch Lets Customers Shop For Free

Online shoppers in New Zealand were stocking up on incredible electronic bargains after a glitch on the Dick Smith website let users purchase items at no cost.

Dick Smith were forced to temporarily take down their New Zealand homepage after online shoppers were able to purchase goods, prompted to pay nothing but the cost of postage and handling. Only the New Zealand website was affected, and shoppers using the Australian site were able to continue shopping as usual, albeit without the super-sale prices.

Apple To Debut ‘HD+’ 1080p iTunes Movie Services Later This Year?

AppleInsider reports that Apple may be preparing to begin supporting 1080p movies in its iTunes Store later this year, based on reports of film studios submitting films to Apple in a new “HD+” format at the higher resolution.

Apple has resisted 1080p for its iTunes videos and even the current version of Apple TV because the company claims it will slow down streaming speeds, which could degrade your viewing experience more than the extra resolution could improve it.

Apple Loses Playlist Patent Suit, Must Pay $8M

A federal judge has ordered Apple to pay a huge fine for infringement of two patents of Personal Audio, related to the creation and use of iPod playlist.

Personal Audio sued Apple for patent infringement in 2009 asking for compensation of $84M.The two patents were the “U.S. patents 6,199,076: Audio Player Program Including a Dynamic Controller Selection Program” and “7,509,178: Audio Program Distribution and Playback System”.

Microsoft Signs Android Patent Deal With Wistron

Microsoft announced the fourth patent-licensing deal in two weeks with a maker of Android devices, announcement timed perhaps to suggest that it has some momentum for its claims that Google’s mobile operating system violates Microsoft’s patents.

Wistron Corp, a spinoff of Acer, is the latest company to make an agreement with Microsoft in a string of lawsuits and royalty clashes that’s spanned the course of two months.

Samsung Hercules To Be Released In Late September

HP Plans August Release For 64GB TouchPad

According to some leaked roadmap slides, Hewlett-Packard is planning to follow up on its just-released first TouchPad tablet with a “white glossy” model due out in August that sports a more powerful processor and 64GB of internal storage.

There will be a 4G edition with HSPA+ model of the TouchPad as well which is tipped to arrive on AT&T. Apart from the change in modem, everything else about this model will be the same as the current 32GB model.
