Meet Motorola’s New Spice & Fire Android Phones

Motorola is currently working on a new ‘candybar style’ Android smartphone. For all you texters, and e-mail fanatics, note that the phone does in fact have a QWERTY keyboard, although from the looks of it, it looks a bit hard to use, unless you have small fingers.

The phone will officially launch as the Motorola Spice and will be appropriately first arrive in South America. The phone will later be rebranded the Motorola Fire and will also launch in Europe.

LG Optimus 3D Takes The U.K. By Storm

The LG Optimus has just taken the United Kingdom by storm, leaving many excited to own this slender piece of technology. The world’s first 3D smartphone will be available for £454.80 for the unlocked/SIM-free model.

Featuring a 4.3″ capacitive touchscreen, and a robust dual-core Texas Instruments processor, the phone boasts of speeds equivalent to 1GHz. The 3D video capture is made possible through two 5MP cameras.

Oracle Sues Google For Android Ad Revenue

Oracle Corporation has slammed a case against Google, in attempts of snagging a large portion of Google’s ad revenue through Android’s mobile operating system. Oracle reasons that Google’s Android stole seven of the former’s Java patents, and in a way, they’re seeking damages.

Oracle expert, Lain Cockburn, presents the case. Google denied the allegations in a filing made Monday through the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California, stating that Cockburn’s statements are unreliable and misleading.

Samsung Dart Is Coming At Full Speed

The Samsung Dart, also known as the Samsung Galaxy Mini was recently spotted thanks to a T-Mobile product roadmap leak. It looks like consumers can expect this phone to hit shelves mid-June. The Samsung T499 is also speculated to arrive shortly after the Galaxy Mini.

The Samsung Dart /G Mini will feature a QVGA display with a weaker 600MHz processor that doesn’t quit blitz the same as the faster 1GHz mobile processors do.

New Malware Turns Your Droid Into A Bot

Google removed around 24 applications from the Android Marketplace last week due to excessive Malware and virus problems. According to the North Carolina State University Blog, a new type of malware called DroidKungFu works like the previously removed DroidDream, although deadlier.

DroidKungFu works through a security bypass on the affected mobile device. The latest malware acts as a trojan (or a backdoor that gives hackers full control of the phone). Not only can this expose all user data, but it can also turn the phone into a bot, forcing the phone to do whatever the hacker wants.

Qualcomm Announces Dual Core 1.5GHz Mobile CPU

Qualcomm has shown off its dual-core mobile processor this week at Computex. Qualcomm’s pride and joy 1.2GHz processor has received a refresh and now boasts speeds of up to 1.5GHz. Under the names: MSM826, MSM8860, and QSD8672, the zippy mobile processors are expected to hit smartphones later this year.

Many of the current mobile manufacturers are already designing their phones based around the processors (and we are hoping larger battery capacities too!). In a world where two cores are better than one, this will mean for better mobile gaming, multimedia enjoyment, and faster “everything” on your mobile device.

AT&T Introduces The Pantech Crossover

AT&T has just announced the Pantech Crossover. The smartphone carries entry level specs but includes the Android operating system and is geared towards budget users looking to get maximum value for their dollar. The phone carries a modest 3.1″ display and is powered by a 600MHz processor.

The built-in camera doesn’t take the sharpest photos, but with three megapixels, it’s enough to capture the moment.
