Our tech giants Google and Microsoft has taken the patent war to next level and Twitter is the new war zone. Recently, Microsoft, along with Apple and Oracle collectively bought some 6,000 patents from Nortel inc.

In the mean time, Google bought around 1,000 patents from IBM. Microsoft, Apple and Oracle in a group known as CPTN paid $3.5 billion more than the predicted price for buying the patents.

Recently, Apple introduced a new service which would allow users to stream TV shows which they had already purchased on their Apple TV. It was rumored that Apple would launch a music streaming service with iCloud and iTunes, but the latest reports suggest that Apple is now working on a new movie streaming service called iTunes Replay.

According to the experts at App Advice Apple, the company is soon to launch a new movie streaming service on iTunes which will allow users to re-stream the movies which they had already purchased and will also provide the facility to re-download them.

The OS war between different mobile operating system vendors is not new. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, RIM are some of the major contenders.

However, a study that was conducted recently states that Google dominates this pool of contenders with its Android OS. A research firm named Canalys recently carried out this survey which indicated that almost half of the world’s smartphones run Android while there is a major gap between iOS and Android. About 48 percent of the OS market belongs to Android while mere 19 percent is owned by iOS.

Foxconn is a Chinese based company and the biggest manufacturer of products of some notable companies such as Nokia, Apple and Sony. Foxconn recently got ripped from an iPad 3 manufacturing contract. Moreover the company had been suffering with some serious problems concerning mostly the labor.

The serious problems with labor were suicides of some of the workers because of low wages, protests against the company and an explosion in the factory. Consequently, Foxcon has now decided to replace manual labor with automated machine robots.

The fact is insane but true, Apple today has more money than the American government. 15 years back, Apple was on edge of default but the tables have turned over and today the American government is.

Let’s see if the American government can pull-through as ‘quickly’ as Apple did, pray hard folks! According to the stats after Apple’s third quarter report, the company has $75.876 billion in its reservoirs while the U.S government has a total of $73.768 billion for running its entire operating balance. Incredible!

Apple’s iTunes store is the one of the biggest providers of music content for PCs and i-Devices. To facilitate the consumer, Apple has upgraded their system of song preview.

iTunes previously allowed a user to preview the tune for about 30 seconds before the user actually bought that tune. Other such service providers such as Amazon also allowed a preview of 30 seconds but looks like Apple has decided to go a step ahead of Amazon.

So far, Apple has not given any clue regarding the release of its new iPhone 5 except what we have from anonymous resources. Even at the Worldwide Developers Conference held in June, Apple remained silent regarding the rumors about the new device.

However, this new iPhone is widely anticipated by the US as well as international consumers. A survey was conducted by PriceGrabbar recently, which showed people’s interest in the new i-device. According to a CNET report, 35% of US consumers are willing to buy the new iPhone after its release. The study in which about 2852 people participated, was conducted in early July.

Suing rival tech companies has now become child’s play for big IT companies. Consequently every company is trying to decorate its portfolio with as many patents as it can by buying patents from different companies.

Google, which had recently been sued by Oracle for Java patent infringement in development of Android has also decided to take some precautionary measures.

Did you know that your favorite iPhone and iPad devices were all manufactured in China? For those of you who knew it, they won’t be produced any more in China. Foxconn was the company responsible for producing the majority of the i-devices. But it looks like Foxconn is out of play now.

Reports suggest that Apple has cancelled the iPad 3 manufacturing contract with Foxconn and is most probably opting for a Taiwanese company, Pegatron. Recently, Pegatron stated that they had received a contract for manufacturing 15 million iPhone units.

Google has recently updated its Chrome browser to work better with Apple’s new operating system, OS X Lion. The new version adds support for Lion’s two-fingered page-swiping feature, for those interested.

The version is dubbed 14.0.835.0 in the Chrome’s developer channel for the Mac. Something that is a little strange, is that the new version does not support Lion’s full-screen mode, which may perplex a number of individuals.
