Ford Adds to Its Portfolio – Auto Parking and Auto Driving

Ford has unveiled its latest addition to its active park assist (APA) package — perpendicular park assist. The technology complements the existing parallel park assist, which is currently available on most models. The system will back your car into perpendicular parking lot spots, allowing for perfect parking all the time.

Ford is also looking to tackle is traffic jams. Ford group vice president Raj Nair, comments, “As an engineer we’re always looking for a smarter way, a better way.”

Their plan is to combat congestion and frustration, by introducing Traffic Jam Assist, a technology which can optionally take over driving when the user is in stop and go traffic. The technology is similar to a low-speed cruise control, but adds automated braking and lane-keeping to the mix. Drivers can override the system at any time to change lanes.

Quma, A 3D Motion-Capturing Technology…

Japan certainly is a leading automotives and robots maker, and recently Japan-based SoftEther.com provided another breakthrough in 3D motion-capturing technology. A striking 3D motion-capture figure has been developed by Japan-based SoftEther.

It can create computer graphics and animations in 3D. A (Quma) dummy’s fitted with sets of joint through its body, which is outfitted with sensors which can easily be moved by user. The sensor tracks the movement and a 3D figure on your computer screen does the same movement.

The H800 Tablet From Hyundai

Okay, so you’ve certainly about Hyundai cars, but did you know they had plans to tap into the tablet market as well? Hyundai is introducing a new 8-inch Android tablet, dubbed the H800.

Essentially it’s an 8-inch 800 x 600 pixel multi-touch tablet that is quite powerful. Perhaps Hyundai plans on pairing their new cars with these tablets to boost sales, or maybe they’re trying to make up for low sales in the auto sector.

Social and job networking, LinkedIn has just announced that they have reached 100 Million users globally. Of those 100 million users, 33.4 million users are from the United States, and India has just reached its “10 million users” milestone.

While traditional job networking sites such as Monster and Naukri slowly fall behind, LinkedIn is receiving a growing awareness amongst Indians and it appears to be THE place to network in the white collar realm.

New 2012 Mercedes ML Coming At You

Mercedes has just unveiled the next generation M-Class Mercedes-Benz, a five seat SUV that was designed to go head to head BMW’s X5. The four-wheel model has been completely redesigned from head to toe, including a new, more powerful engine.

The entry-level ML250 will get a 201bhp 2.1 liter four-cylinder diesel lump, that is capable of getting an astonishing 47MPG while emitting just 158g/km of CO2. The new Mercedes has 25% better efficiency across the M-Class range offering consumers the thrill of owning a Mercedes without the worry of stopping by the gas station twice a week.

Toyota Working On ‘Toyota Friend’ Social Network

Toyota is creating a social networking service with the help of an American ISP and Microsoft in an initiative aimed to get drivers to interact with their cars, much like they do with Facebook and Twitter. Japanese auto-maker Toyota is teaming up with Salesforce.com to launch a new social network called “Toyota Friend”, the network is aimed to work similar to Twitter.

In a Tokyo demo-room, an owner of a plug-in Prius discovered from his Prius that he should remember to recharge the car overnight.

Introducing The Aston Martin Zagato V12

Aston Martin has just revealed the Zagato V12 and will be showing it off at this weekend’s Villa D’Este Concours. The supercar has a 6.0 liter fuel tank and is purported to be the descendant of the DB4GT Zagato, V8 Vantage Zagato, and DB7 Zagato. The supercar claims 510 horsepower and reaches 60mph within 4.1 seconds. The car will essentially come in two flavors; the road version and a racing version that is expected to launch May 28th of this year.

Finally, A Hybrid Car That Goes 200MPH

Jaguar is planning to launch its C-X75 concept vehicle as a hybrid supercar. The C-X75 takes the cake for speed, known to achieve speeds greater than 200MPH and is expected to deliver ultra-low CO2 emissions of less than 99g/km. Finally a concept vehicle with plans through production, something that rarely happens with anything in concept form. I’ve always considered concept technology and vehicles (which I also consider tech) to be creative designs meant to innovate and inspire future creators.
