A group of students at Rice University, in Pulickel Ajayan’s lab, have done just that. They actually created a “battery” that can be sprayed on virtually any surface like a spray paint. The idea sounds far fetched, and the project leader, graduate student Neelam Singh, admits she was a bit skeptical herself.

White House Seeks To Increase Auto Industry Avg To 56MPG

The White House unveiled an ambitious proposal to update the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. The new plan would require auto manufacturers to bump the average fuel economy from 34mpg by 2016 and 56.2mpg by 2025.

The new MPG requirement will apply to cars, trucks, and SUVs and represents about a 5% per year of fuel efficiency. Although the new requirement will no doubt be expensive, it will also save the United States 4.7 billion barrels of oil and $705 billion US by year 2030.

Toshiba’s REGZA 19P2 W/ Internal Battery

Toshiba has just released a new TV in Japan called the REGZA 19P2 TV with internal battery in Japan this week. The TV starts at 50,000 Yen (About $620 USD) and carries a 19″ screen measuring out to 1366 x 768 pixels.

The LCD TV’s core feature is its removable internal battery that is able to deliver 5 hours of continuous play time and comes with a 1Seg Digital TV Tuner allowing consumers to freely move the television from room to room, rather than buying a separate TV set for each room.

Sanyo’s New Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries

While Sanyo has been selling its Eneloop rechargeable batteries for a long time, the company recently unleashed its new Eneloop Pro batteries, featuring a power capacity that is 25% greater than previous batteries.

Rather than going through cases of batteries in a year’s time, rechargeable batteries offer the savings, convenience, and environmental awareness needed to keep the planet green. Sanyo recommends using these new batteries for “high drain” devices such as digital cameras or flashlights.

Acer Updates It’s Awesome TimelineX Notebooks

Acer has just brought us a new concept of a timeline, that is, an updated series of the TimelineX range of notebooks. The TimelineX notebooks come in three sizes; the 13.3″ 3830T, 14″ 4830T, and the 15.6″ 5830T, which size you should get all depends on your laptop preferences.

Each notebook offers consumers a choice of choosing between Intel’s Sandy Bridge Core i3 and i5 processors. Users also have the option of choosing integrated Intel HD graphics or Nvidia GeForce GT 520M/540M graphics with Optimus switching. The battery life will last up to eight hours on a full charge.
