BitTorrent Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary

A programmer by the name of Bram Cohen invented something very special 10 years ago, the first peer-to-peer BitTorrent protocol, in April of 2011.

Just three months later he posted “My new app, BitTorrent, is now in working order” on Yahoo Groups, along with a URL.

Cohen wrote the first BitTorrent client in Python, and while it received a very slow welcoming, it was just years later when the platform really took off.

Sony Introduces VAIO L, AIO Desktop W/ 3D

It looks like Sony has another All-In-One desktop up its sleeve, this time with 3D, offering HD picture quality as a PC/TV combo. The attractive looking device carries a 24″ diagonal LED backlit multi-touch display, offering touch access to the Internet and TV (on select models).

Enjoy your favorite movies on Blu-ray, listen to your favorite tunes, and view your recently snapped photos on the large 24″ screen. The Sony VAIO L Series features a full HD 3D display and allows users to enjoy PC games at a high resolution, in 3D.

Panasonic Announces 2 New 3D Blu-ray Players

Panasonic has just announced two new 3D Blu-ray disc players coming to UK stores. Both Blu-ray players have Freeview + HD built-in and will be optimized for next-generation home entertainment. The two models, named DMR-BWT800 and DMR-BWT700 each carry twin tuners on board, as well as full 5.1-channel surround sound with the option of displaying 3D content, as previously mentioned.

The devices are Viera Cast enabled and users will be able to connect through an SD slot, and able to plug in their AVCHD content directly into the players.

Intel’s New Hexa-Core 3.6GHz i7-995X Extreme Edition

We just got word that Intel will be releasing the first of the 32-nanometer Atom processors on August 1st of this year. Coming a little sooner on June 26th is the hexa-core (six core) i7-980. Intel will also release a glitch-free Intel 6-series chipset, the Z68 on May 11th. How was this information obtained? Redbox Will Soon Carry Videogames In Over 21,000 Locations

Redbox is a popular DVD rental kiosk that is found in many grocery stores. Users walk up to the big red machine and select from a list of popular movies and new releases. Consumers pay one or two dollars, and have a DVD vended out to them. Everything is done electronically of course, and the machines accept multiple forms of payment. To return the movie, customers simply scan the receipt and/or DVD and are merrily on their way.

MSI Announces New GX780 Gaming Laptop

MSI has introduced a new gaming notebook today that raises the stake even higher in the gaming industry. The MSI GX780 carries a 17.3-inch screen with a special keyboard design by the game accessory maker, SteelSeries. The end result is an extremely durable notebook keyboard that is optimized for hardcore gaming and even includes enlarged ALT and CTRL keys and moves the Windows key to the right to avoid accidental hits during those intense in-game battles!
