Trillian Pro Will Be Free For All Platforms

Trillian has just announced that they will include all Trillian Pro features across all devices (mobile and desktop) for free, with advertisements. This means that users will be able to enjoy multiple location sign-in, themes, activity history, and other terrific features without having to pay for an upgraded account.

My only guess on the move was that Cerulean Studios (the parent company of Trillian) wasn’t making enough money on the Pro accounts and thus decided to leak the upgrade for free, on the condition that consumers would view a couple advertisements in exchange.

Users will be able to add their best friends straight from the AIM account or by adding their buddies through the Google Talk list. To add an AIM screenname to Google Talk, users will have to type the AIM screenname followed by “@aol.com.”

There will also be Find My Mac messenger, and we have no idea what this could be.

Some speculate that it is a way for Mac’s Finder to instant message the Mac owner, but we’re not too sure how it works or how effective the applicaiton will be.

Skype Vulnerability Exposed On Android Devices

There are over ten million users for Skype, that’s quite a large number. Android Police recently dismantled the application and discovered how easy it was to extract data from the application. Android Police discovered that one’s username, profile, contacts, as well as chat logs could easily be extracted due to Skype’s use of an unprotected database.

Although there are currently no malicious apps that exploit this vulnerability, Skype has been made aware of the problem and are working to solve the matter before trouble arises. For users with Skype installed on their Android phones, it is recommended that you “watch” what apps you install. Facebook Releases New Messaging To Everyone

On Friday, Facebook announced that all users will soon be able to migrate to the new messaging platform.

Facebook was probably getting a ton of requests from people who want the upgrade – which unlike the profile upgrade, might make sense. However, the expectation was that the rollout would happen gradually, but now it seems that the roll out will happen much faster and very soon.

The benefit to the new messaging system is essentially that it acts as extended instant messaging system with SMS. There is also the ability to have history from all the messages, even chat messages.
