LaCie Teams Up With Porsche To Deliver Awesome HDDs

Not long after we covered the LaCie cloudblox, it looks like LaCie has teamed up with Porsche with the awesome new Porsche-designed hard drives.

The mobile hard drive is dubbed the P9220 and the desktop version, the P9230. Each model will of course have the ultra fast USB 3.0 interface, and has looks so sharp, even Apple will have a run for its money.

Intel Develops 22nm Haswell CPU For 2013 Launch

Intel is currently working on its 22 nanometer Haswell computer chips that are due to come out in year 2013. Haswell will enjoy the same power-saving technology, known as tri-gate 3D transistor technology that was first developed in accordance with the Ivy Bridge chip.

Intel boasts on its blog that their floating-point multiply significantly increases peak FLOPS (floating operations per second) and provides enhanced precision to improve their mathematics.

Corsair Recalls 120GB Force Series 3 SSD

It looks like Corsair may have sold a bad egg, or even a whole batch of them, with the 120GB Corsair Force Series solid state drives. Corsair claims that a “significant percentage” of these drives do not perform to specifications.

Corsair claimed that it analyzed issues associated with the stability of the recently released drive and requests that users stop using them immediately, even if there are no signs of strange behavior. Fortunately, the problem only affects the 120GB version with the part number CSSD-F120GB3-BK, and all other drives in the Force and Force GT families are unaffected.

Introducing Panasonic’s Toughbook 53

Panasonic announced this morning that it will be delivering the Toughbook 53, the big brother from the Toughbook 52. Instead of a 15.4-inch screen, the T53 will sport a 14-inch display. The T53 will also be significantly lighter than the T52’s 7.2 pounds, weighing in at 5.6 pounds. The T53 was designed for vehicle-mounting and will ship with 4G LTE which will supply the iron-strength notebook with the speed needed for today’s computing.

VIA Rolls Out Two New Chips

VIA Technologies make computer chips for power efficient x86 processor platforms. The company announced on Friday that it will be rolling out a new line of low power dual core VIA Nano X2 Series processors at the ESC (Embedded System Conference) in San Jose.

The E-series processors are extremely power efficient and feature dual-core architecture, specifically designed for 86-bit and x86 embedded system applications. The models to be released will be a 1.2GHz and a 1.6GHz chip and both processors come with a seven year warranty.

AMD Introduces Phenom II 980 Black Edition

As we have seen earlier, Intel is stepping up its game in the processing market, but what about AMD? Advanced Micro Devices, based in Sunnyvale California is the well known rival to Intel. They will be competing against Intel’s fastest chip with the new AMD Phenom II 980 Black Edition Desktop microprocessor. This central processing unit will be perfect for avid gamers or those who stress over frame rates.

iPhone 5 Due For The Christmas Rush

You’ve heard all the hype about the iPhone 5 arriving for the summer. Although we knew that Apple couldn’t make that deadline, we have better news to offer this time around. Apple will begin production of the new iPhone in July of this year with an expected launch data of September, according to Reuters’ inside information from the company.

So far, all we know is that the new iPhone will have a better processor and an 8MP rear-camera, we don’t have many other official details just yet. The companies that will list the major components of the new iPhone include Largan Precision Co. Ltd, Wintek Corp., and Foxconn Technology Co. Ltd. These companies will supply iPhone’s camera, touchscreen panels, and cases, respectively.
