Comcast Offer 105Mbps Internet Speeds

In Internet speed terms, 5Mbps is a good connection, one should be able to play first person shooter videogames on it without any problems, movies and music download at a reasonable rate. A 10Mbps connection is really fast and will allow you to download gigabytes of data, say if you’re downloading a full featured game, over night. Being able to download 15GB of data in one night still impresses me. Comcast has announced today that they are delivering 105Mbps connections to over 40 million homes around the United States.

AMD Will Support USB 3.0!

Although USB 3.0 can be found on many computers and notebooks today, they are all supported by third party controllers because neither Intel nor AMD currently offer support for USB 3.0 in their chipsets. AMD will be working on USB3.0 support for the upcoming A75 and A70M Fusion chipsets. Phil Hughes from AMD told CNET that the chipsets are shipping today. We can expect that computers and notebooks with AMD power and USB 3.0 will be hitting shelves by next month at the latest. This of course will give Intel something to sweat about…

Is Your Internet Running At Industry Standard?

A usage survey by the FCC has shown that 60 percent of high speed internet connections in the U.S. are slower than 3Mbps– less than the industry standard of “minimum bandwidth” needed to accommodate today’s “high-quality voice, data, graphics, and video.” The survey also shows growth in wired broadband connections by 1 million subscriptions. While this is considered to be relatively slow growth, wireless connections grew by 15 million or 27%.

Out of 153 million connections, 31 percent were found to be…
