AT&T To Thwart Speeds Of Excessive Data Eaters

AT&T’s unlimited data plan had been very successful, but on the other hand, it also hurt AT&T to some extent. Therefore, on release of the iPhone 4 AT&T canceled its new unlimited data plans but retained it for those who were already using unlimited plan.

Those users had been in pure bliss enjoying unlimited speeds without any contravention. But their experience is going to change on October 1st.

Sandisk Ultra Solid State Drive (SSD)

To store persistent data in your computers, SanDisk is back by unveiling the new Solid State Drive (SSD). This new SSD (dubbed, Ultra) can increase performance of your system by consuming less power of the computer. It will definitely increase battery life of a laptop as it consumes less power.

Different from ordinary hard Disk Drives (HDD) which consumes high power and are electromagnetic devices, it retains data in nonvolatile memory chips. As it has no moving parts like HDD where Data is stored in Spinning Disks, there is a smaller chance of damaging it.

The N750 From NETGEAR Offers 450Mbps Wireless Speeds

NETGEAR has recently launched a new router that offers dual band wireless transmission at rates up to 750Mbps. The new Dual Band Gigabit Router is called the NETGEAR N750 and the router transmits data simultaneously over both wireless N bands (up to 450Mbps in the 5GHz band) and up to 300Mbps in the 2.5 GHz band.

The N750 also offers a host of parental controls for the concerned parent, as well as implementing a broadband usage meter for those worried about data caps. The router supports DLNA, and easily handles HD video, music, and photos.

Google Buys Wind Energy Until 2031

Today is Earth Day, and it marks a day of making better decisions for our planet. After spending nearly $275 million dollars on renewable energy, Google is not falling short of expectations this time. Google has announced today that it has signed a power purchase agreement for wind energy in Oklahoma. Mayes County Oklahoma will have a fully operational data center by the end of 2011 thanks to wind energy. Google will be buying the energy from NextEra Energy Resources’ Minco II wind facility and will continue to get energy there until 2031.

Verizon LTE Moves To The South And Midwest

Verizon has finally brought it’s 4G LTE network to the Southern and Midwest markets, after it’s recent push to the major markets. Verizon will now be serving four markets in Pennsylvania (Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown and Leigh Valley), two markets in Tennessee (Cleveland and Clarksville), two markets in South Carolina (Hilton Head and Columbia) and one in North Carolina (Wilmington) would soon get LTE coverage.

Samsung Introduces ‘90% More Efficient’ LCD Panel

Although displays typically compete in areas of screen resolution, contrast ratio, and through a variety of ports, Samsung is charging the tech industry by storm. The company will soon be producing a mass marketed transparent LCD panel. Production will start in the month of April with plans to ship out later this year. The 22″ transparent display will be made available in black-and-white as well as color.

They’ll both host a contrast ratio of 500:1 and a WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) screen resolution. Today’s LCD panels use back light unit technology, called BLU and have a 5% transparency rate. Samsung’s transparency rate will be 4x better for its black-and-white model and 3x more transparent for…

Hewlett-Packard’s “Green” Data Research Facility

HP has recently announced the opening of a new facility that will focus on sustainable datacenter technologies. HP has collaborated with HP Labs, their central research division, and HP Critical Facilities, to build a fully equipped 50,000 sq. ft. data research center in Ft Collins, Colorado. Half of the new facility will be dedicated to a live installation that will focus on HP’s Sustainable Datacenter Project.
