Leak: Sony Going Deep With Virtual Reality

Hopefully the days of a silly console controller are over. I’ve said it before, but I am getting tired of playing console games with the dual joy-stick. Sure, it was awesome in 2002, but times are changing and we are living in a world where we want to interact more with our media.

Think about how Google+ has their hangouts, a rich way to communicate with one another via videochat, and how about the new Wii U and the touch-screen controller? The Xbox Kinect? The more you think about it, the clearer it becomes- the concept of fun is being defined by how much we can do with our gadgets, and Sony might be catching on.

Xbox720 Will Have Avatar-Graphics

AMD spilled the beans on the upcoming Xbox 720, and having fueled the current Xbox360, we believe that Microsoft will pair with the graphics company once again as has proven successful in the past.

AMD claims that the new Xbox will have Avatar-like graphics, which is a bold statement to make. The company went further to say that each character will have the capability of having a unique AI (artificial intelligence), rather than all of them acting in a predictable manner.

New CAM Storage Is Much Faster Than Any SSD

Before solid-state drives came around, data storage on PCs happened at a relatively slow pace using traditional hard disk drives which utilize a spinning disk between 3,800 RPM (less common) to 7,200 RPM (more common). Although solid state technology is faster and more reliable than hard drives, it’s still nothing compared to the speed of RAM (Random Access Memory).

With this in mind, NEC developed a new Content Addressable Memory (CAM) system that stores data without using any power. The new CAM modules are as fast as RAM modules, making it a top contender for future technology around the globe.

Game Emulators Yanked From Android Market

Game emulators are programs that are available for download through mobile, desktop, and laptop devices, that allow users to simulate game consoles and play games they enjoy without having to pay for the console. The player usually just plays the game through mouse and keyboard instead of controller, but one could easily configure a game controller by obtaining the right hardware and software.

A third party Android app developer by the name of Yong Zhang has recently had his popular game console emulators yanked out of the Android market. His entire selection of apps was removed without warning.

Features Of Android Ice Cream Sandwich

The next level of Android will be arriving for tablets but will be a vast improvement to Google TVs interface. For those who are in love with the current flavor of Android operating systems, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb, you’ll also find that Ice Cream Sandwich delivers on Google’s idea of making intuitive software work for consumers.

The new Android will allow users to expand and resize widgets, which comes in handy when you don’t want your Facebook widget taking 40% of a desktop page.

Razer’s Hydra Controllers Now Available!

Consumers can pre-order the remote controller for $140, with an estimated time arrival of June. A full version of Portal 2 comes with that price tag, making you ultimately pay about $90 for the remote set.

AMD Will Support USB 3.0!

Although USB 3.0 can be found on many computers and notebooks today, they are all supported by third party controllers because neither Intel nor AMD currently offer support for USB 3.0 in their chipsets. Thankfully AMD has found it’s niche, even if temporarily, because the company will now offer USB 3.0 support for their chipsets.

AMD will be working on USB3.0 support for the upcoming A75 and A70M Fusion chipsets. Phil Hughes from AMD told CNET that the chipsets are shipping today. We can expect that computers and notebooks with AMD power and USB 3.0 will be hitting shelves by next month at the latest. This of course will give Intel something to sweat about…
