Foursquare Adds Deals Section To App

The popular social networking site that is based on its users locations, is now offering ‘Deals’ to its platform. Foursquare’s new Deals special shows the latest deals from LivingSocial, Gilt City, Zozi, BuyWithMe, and AT&T Interactive.

The service works similar to a compiler, and some deals are made available exclusively to Foursquare users, sometimes deals as good as 50% off.

Groupon Partners W/ Live Nation For Concert Deals

Groupon has partnered up with Live Nation to bring concert deals for local events. The new campaign is called GrouponLive and will combine Groupon’s local distribution efforts with Live Nation’s roster of events to let consumers enjoy their favorite bands at a fraction of the cost. Live Nation currently operates as the world’s most popular ticketing service, Ticketmaster and runs Live Nation Concerts.

AT&T Aims To Destroy Groupon & Co.

Groupon, you’re toast. Or at least that’s what AT&T is thinking right now. The telecommunications giant began pre-registration to consumers in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas-Fort Worth for a service through the company’s yellowpages.com. Under the new system, YP will send daily deals to consumers. The company is currently offering ten dollars toward the first Deal of the Day to those who sign up through May 22nd.

Facebook Launches Deals On Facebook

Facebook launched a service a few months ago called Check-In Deals. Check-In Deals allowed consumers to get special offers when they checked in at local business from their mobile phones. Today, Facebook is bringing social to a whole new level by bringing Deals on Facebook. Since the service is brand new, deals will originally be available only to people in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego, and San Francisco with hopes to expand to other major cities in the future.

Groupon Found Guilty Of Writing Fake Yelp Reviews

In a Venture Level blog post today, Romil Patel, an entrepreneur discusses his experiences with running Groupon and LivingSocial deals. Overall, he experienced some shadiness going on with Groupon. Apparently a Groupon representative he worked with had asked him to create fake, positive Yelp reviews for his own business.

Groupon, the popular “deals” website has recently acquired the creators of Whrrl, a company called Pelago. Pelago was founded in 2006 in Seattle and is best known for its location based services app for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. The app is called Whrrl and works like Foursquare, aiming to get people to explore their neighborhood and recommend their favorite places to friends and family. Groupon was founded just two years ago in Chicago and has since then expanded to more than 40 countries around the world, carrying a powerful user base of over 35 million.
