ISPs To Punish Illegal Downloaders

Are you one of those people who would rather risk stiff fines and possible jail time than spending money on any digital content? If you have Comcast, AT&T, or Verizon here is your warning that they plan to start cracking down even more if you are caught sharing illegal files.

These ISPs have been working on an agreement with media companies more closely with piracy. Rather than just receiving a warning in the mail you could receive throttled bandwidth or limited access to the Internet.

Amazon’s EC2 Cloud Crash Loses Data, Permanently

Amazon’s recent EC2 cloud service crash has permanently destroyed some data. Fortunately, the amount of damage is minimal compared to what could have happened, but in any case, this should have never happened. Amazon has not yet given a complete explanation on what has happened from the crash. I am sure that many people are perplexed as to how Amazon could have lost data, after all, it is hard to imagine such a large company making such a mistake, even though we are all only human on the surface. According to BusinessInsider, Amazon had sent a letter to a big customer explaining the permanent loss of the customer’s data. The letter reads:

HP Steps Up Game In Cloud Computing

Hewlett-Packard has recently been working hard on it’s cost savings, cloud computing, and complex software in hopes to be a better opponent to IBM. HP has recently announced an initiative to get customers “onto” big data center computing through a series of products and services designed to speed up and make corporate software apps more flexible.

Cloud Video Startup Zixi Raises $4 Million

According to Venture Beat, a cloud video startup named Zixi has raised $4 million in a round of funding for its web video broadcasting business. The Waltham, Mass.-based company will use these funds to build a global team to deliver high-definition video via cloud, or through web-connected data centers. Zixi plans to focus on delivering cloud video of the highest quality, security, and of course, the company seeks to make a return on investment.

Apple Refuses To Ship iPads To BestBuy?

According to CultofMac, Best Buy has not been releasing their entire shipment of iPads once they have been reaching their sales quotas for the day. This made Apple very angry because the company’s goal is to get everyone an iPad before they either change their mind and get a Motorola Xoom or fall “victim” to a competitor by purchasing one of their tablets. Best Buy has internal quotas that are set for iPad 2 sales, but the quotas do not take in the actual number of iPad 2 sales in the stores.
