Meet Your Worst Nightmare: The BodyGuard

Meet the BodyGuard. A batman-like electrical glove that features a laser pointer, video camera, and can shock people with 500,000 volts. Please note, this gadget is not intended to be taken to your next business meeting. I’m not quite sure why one would need this, perhaps if you plan on walking through downtown Los Angeles on a dark night?

If it’s supposed to mock a pepper spray gun, it works as intended. I assume that the laser pointer acts as a warning for the possible attacker to back off, and the tazer finishes the job. The ‘gauntlet’ or glove (whatever you like to call it) has a hard outer shell, that may just be the perfect tool to block a strike.

HP Recalls Another 162,000 Laptop Batteries

HP has just recalled 162,000 lithium-ion batteries after discovering a product model series that was missing in last year’s worldwide recall, ITNews Australia reports. The laptop batteries were shipped between July 2007 and May 2008 and are prone to overheat and rupture, which may result in fires or burns, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The new model series was discovered on the HP Compaq 6520 and one of the HP Pavilion models. The recent recall of 162K batteries adds to the already 124K previously recalled within the past two years, bringing the total up to nearly 300,000 recalled batteries, ouch!

7.5M Facebook Users Are Under 13 Years Old

Consumers who want to join Facebook must be at least 13 years old according to Facebook’s terms of service. Contrary to this fact, a new report has surfaced in Consumer Reports that claims that out of 20 million users under 18, 7.5 million of them are younger than 13 and 5 million are younger than ten years old.

Facebook issued a statement immediately before the release of the report stating that it is virtually impossible to ensure the true ages of people who sign up for Facebook. Facebook took the opportunity to state that…
