Netflix Radically Changes Price Plans; Charges Hefty Fee

It looks like Netflix watched the success of Hulu Plus, and thought to themselves, “Hey boys, I think we can be making a lot more money, here!” The company has radically changed its pricing structure for its Netflix customers, and may cause many to leave.

While customers previously had the option of choosing an $8 streaming plan, they could also pay $2 to rent out one additional DVD at a time.

Panasonic Announces 2 New 3D Blu-ray Players

Panasonic has just announced two new 3D Blu-ray disc players coming to UK stores. Both Blu-ray players have Freeview + HD built-in and will be optimized for next-generation home entertainment. The two models, named DMR-BWT800 and DMR-BWT700 each carry twin tuners on board, as well as full 5.1-channel surround sound with the option of displaying 3D content, as previously mentioned.

The devices are Viera Cast enabled and users will be able to connect through an SD slot, and able to plug in their AVCHD content directly into the players.

Redbox Will Soon Carry Videogames In Over 21,000 Locations

Redbox is a popular DVD rental kiosk that is found in many grocery stores. Users walk up to the big red machine and select from a list of popular movies and new releases. Consumers pay one or two dollars, and have a DVD vended out to them. Everything is done electronically of course, and the machines accept multiple forms of payment. To return the movie, customers simply scan the receipt and/or DVD and are merrily on their way.

Bankrupt Blockbuster For Sale

The popular movie rental chain, Blockbuster is now bankrupt and a part of an ongoing auction that opened Monday morning. Today, a winning bid of $284 million bid from Dish Network’s Charles Ergen was placed. The next highest bidder is a hedge-fund manager, Carl Icahn at 280.9 million.
