Hybrid Tractors Reduce Fuel Consumption By 50%

Heavy duty machinery, such as tractors have been used for mining and agriculture for a very long time. When these heavy duty machines are used, not only do they use up a lot of fuel and produce byproduct carbon emissions, but they are used for hours on end- usually to get some type of job done.

Fortunately, researchers at Aalto University in Finland have taken the success of hybrid technology from cars and implanted that knowledge to build hybrid machines. The heavy duty hybrids use both combustion and electric engines, cutting fuel consumption in half.

Steve Jobs Will Introduce iCloud And iOS5 @ WWDC 2011

Apple has officially announced that Steve Jobs will introduce the iCloud service, as well as iOS 5 during the WWDC keynote address on June 6th, at 10AM. The computer giant will also reveal the next generation OS X, Lion software, as well. WWDC stands for WorldWide Developer Conference and will feature over one hundred tech sessions, each presented by Apple engineers.

Apple fanatics, tech enthusiasts, and journalists will all get a taste of what Apple has to offer in the coming years, at least on the software front.

Pioneer, a global corporation in charge with designing revolutionary entertainment products is often well cited as a leader in stereo systems and speakers. Okay, so it’s not exactly a coffee table, but a table that can hold a mug on the sidelines, no doubt! The company has just revealed a 52″ Multitouch interactive discussion table called the WWS-DT101 and is inspired from Microsoft Surface.

The interactive table resembles a flat screen television that lays on a stand. It’s 52 inches of multitouch technology that allows for the best collaboration throughout the day.

Verizon’s 4G LTE Is Down Nationwide

Verizon’s 4G LTE network went down late last night, and is still down today. The Verizon 4G LTE outage has occurred through the country and affects the HTC Thunderbolt as well as 4G hotspots. The issue doesn’t affect 3G smartphones on the network, and is limited to 4G capable smartphones. So, if you’ve been holding out on that 4G purchase, yay for you!

UK Tech Sector Gets $60 Million Push

U.K. investment firm Passion Capital just raised a fund of $60 million, $40 million of which was contributed by the U.K. government. They plan to make around 50 investments with the fund, each around $200,000, mostly to companies with little more than a pitch or a prototype. They recently released their invest strategy on their lovely website.
