Hybrid Tractors Reduce Fuel Consumption By 50%

Heavy duty machinery, such as tractors have been used for mining and agriculture for a very long time. When these heavy duty machines are used, not only do they use up a lot of fuel and produce byproduct carbon emissions, but they are used for hours on end- usually to get some type of job done.

Fortunately, researchers at Aalto University in Finland have taken the success of hybrid technology from cars and implanted that knowledge to build hybrid machines. The heavy duty hybrids use both combustion and electric engines, cutting fuel consumption in half.

Microsoft has been pushing web surfers to upgrade to a newer browser, hopefully IE9, which is slated to be released from beta later this month. Overall, usage share was down to 12% across the world.

RealNetworks Completes Restructuring Cuts 130 Jobs

“Today is a hard day. Today is definitely not a very good day, to be making these kind of cuts.” These were the words of Bob Kimball, CEO of RealNetworks, in reference to eliminating a further 130 jobs from its global workforce. While less than 40 jobs will be cut in its headquarters in Seattle, RealNetworks will be closing its Finland offices in Helsinki as part of this round of cuts. This leave the company with around 1,300 employees, down from its peak of 1,700 a couple of years back.
