X-Ray Camera Captures 4.5 Million Frames Per Second

Researchers at the Science and Technology Facilities Council in the United Kingdom have created an X-Ray camera that lets you see 3D images of real individual molecules. The camera can capture images at 4.5 million frames per second.

To put some perspective on that number, the human eye perceives the real world at around 30-45 frames per second. The camera functions by using a superconducting accelerator that produces X-ray flashes a billion times brighter than normal cameras.

This time Sony has created what they claim to be the world’s slimmest camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX55. The camera is just 12.2 mm thick being 5 mm less thicker than the Sony’s DSC-TX10.

EA Offers $1 Billion To Game Maker, PopCap

According to reports, Electronic Arts is looking to purchase the popular game maker, PopCap. If the deal goes through, it could be one of the biggest in EA’s history.

PopCap Games was founded in 2000 and currently generates about $100 million in revenue each year, housing 400 employees in the organization.

Popcap has produced many successful games for PC, Mac, Nintendo, Xbox, Playstation, Android, and iOS and usually sticks with basic 2-D games like Bejeweled and Plants versus Zombies.

Mass Effect 3: Full Trailer And Gameplay Revealed

It looks like Mass Effect 3 will arrive in the month of March 2012, despite the original Holiday 2011 release schedule. The update comes from Casey Hudson, the project lead for Mass Effect 3. BioWare’s CEO Ray Muzyka said that Mass Effect 3 will take full advantage of Microsoft’s Kinect controller, and even said that players will be able to give voice commands directly to squad members (using their own voice.)

40% Of All Xbox360 Activity Is Non-Gaming

According to Microsoft’s blog, about 40% of all Xbox 360 activity is non-gaming. So what are people using their Xbox machines for? Video streaming. Whether it’s the Netflix application, ESPN streaming, or Hulu, people get the majority of their Xbox360 fix through non-gaming activities.

While Microsoft seems to think this is cool, I wonder what these statistics say about the game console? Is it that modern Xbox games are boring or are they just too expensive for consumer needs right now?

Dimenco Announces 52″ Lenticular TV

Ex-Philips engineers have started a company called Dimenco with the prime goal of developing glasses-free TV. Rather than calling them Googlers (since they didn’t work at Google), you have my permission to call them Philips-ers (although that doesn’t roll off the tongue very well.) The four engineers started the company with the idea that they would have the first commercial product available by year 2013.

Dimenco has today announced that it will be unleashing a 52″ lenticular (produces illusion of depth) TV LCD, offering full 1080p visuals via glasses-free 3D.

MSI has introduced a new gaming notebook today that raises the stake even higher in the gaming industry. The MSI GX780 carries a 17.3-inch screen with a special keyboard design by the game accessory maker, SteelSeries.
